Inspiration for July 18th
"Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused." -Alan Cohen

Jules Reid: lovely fresh fashion
Since becoming a blogger, I have LOVED how reading other blogs leads you to discover new things. Today it was Jules Reid. This is one designer whose fashions can best be described as Lilly Pulitzer meets India Hicks meets Roberta Freymann. Her stuff is bright, fresh and lovely and I wish I could afford the entire summer collection. Even better, she is from Virginia. All the more reason to support her! Here are some of my favorite pieces from her summer collection:
Of course I love it, it's pink :)
And the necklace rocks!
Very Charleston.....
My absolute favorite!
Beautiful color of melon....
Her new fall and winter collection is also out and there are some delicious, vibrant colors in this collection that I adore:
Just love the contrasting tights too!
Reminds of a dress my Mom had back in the 70's, so glam rock!
That necklace is to die for!
Very grecian goddess.....
Isle of Capri
The Isle of Capri is definnitely one of the most magical places I have ever been before in my life. I stumbled upon this amazing hotel during some online searching and just had to post it here as a bookmark for myself. I definitely want to put this on my list of places to stay the next time I head to Capri.

Evil Eye
I am constantly obsessing on jewelry and the latest pieces by Kara Ross for Tory Burch are totally irresistable!
Glamorous gold stands in striking contrast to the focal point of our Evil Eye Cuff.
The Evil Eye symbol is an ancient and globally known talisman that wards off bad luck and invites good luck.
14K gold plated and enamel. $325.00
The Multi Evil Eye Bib Necklace is a strong and intriguing statement piece. The Evil Eye symbol is an ancient and globally known talisman that wards off bad luck and invites good luck.

La Fete Nationale
Anyone who has been to my home knows that I am a total Francophile.....I LOVE France and would move there tomorrow if I could just find a job in Paris.
One of my dreams is to visit Paris on Bastille Day, maybe I'll save that for the big 4-0!!! For those of you that don't know your French history, here is a little info on this holiday:
Bastille Day is the French national holiday which is celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution. Festivities are held on the morning of 14 July, on the Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic.

2010 World Cup Trophy travels first class
The World Cup has occupied most of my free time (and the space on my DVR) for the past month and I thought this was a great story about the trophy. Who says fashion and sport don't have a place together?
"Commissioned by FIFA, the special order case, handmade by a single master craftsman in Louis Vuitton’s historic Asnières workshop near Paris, has been meticulously designed to accommodate the celebrated Trophy, which measures 36 cm in height, weighs 6.175 kg and is made of solid 18-carat gold with a base of semi-precious malachite. Covered in Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram canvas, the travel case is fitted with the company’s signature brass lock and corners, and has a dark brown lining that complements the Trophy’s rich gold. Like all Louis Vuitton special orders, the FIFA World Cup Trophy case was made at the company’s original workshop in Asnières, which opened in 1859."

It's just too bad that Germany didn't get the trophy :(

Soup Saturday: Cold Cucumber Soup
I found this great recipe today on the Elle Decor website and wanted to share.....will be making it as soon as I have some time this week.
Cucumber Soup
Ingredients
• 4 large English cucumbers (about 3 lb.)
• 2 cups spinach leaves, packed
• 2 T olive oil
• ½ large red onion, chopped
• 2 stalks celery, chopped
• 1 lb. Idaho potatoes, peeled and chopped
• 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
• ¼ cup heavy cream
• Juice of 1 lemon
• Salt, pepper, and Tabasco sauce to taste
Directions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil; set a bowl of ice water on the side. Peel the cucumbers, reserve the skins, and roughly chop the flesh. Boil the cucumber peels with the spinach leaves until tender, about 4 minutes, then chill in the ice water. Squeeze dry and set aside. In a large sauce pot, warm the olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, celery, potatoes, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, until onions are tender but not browned, about 5 minutes. Add half of the cucumber flesh and just enough water to cover. Simmer for 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender. Remove from heat and chill. In a blender, combine chilled mixture with the cooked cucumber peels and spinach, remaining cucumber flesh, yogurt, and cream (you may need to do this in batches). Puree until very smooth, then pass through a fine-mesh sieve. Chill the soup. When ready to serve, adjust the seasoning with lemon juice, Tabasco sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Serves 10.
Garnishes
Ingredients
• 1 bunch dill, leaves picked
• 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
• Zest and juice of 1 lemon
• ½ lb. smoked salmon, sliced
• 1 3.5-oz. package grissini (thin Italian breadsticks)

If I had a beach house....
If I had a beach house, it would TOTALLY look like this....
LOVE this fabulous sofa!
Super fab tablecloth
Look at that turtle!
OMG, pinch me! A pink fridge, woo hoo.....MUST have!
Where can I find a tableset like this?
Super Vineyard Vines-like wallpaper!
I found these pictures in the latest issue of House Beautiful. The California bungalow is designed by Krista Ewart and it is just too great for words.
Grateful Dead
One of the things people never understand about me is my love for all things hippie along with all things couture. It makes for a wide variety of experiences and amazing friends all over the place.....one of my greatest regrets was discovering my love for the Dead after Jerry left this world.....yesterday was the 15th anniversary of this show at RFK and I could have gone to that show but didn't. Who would have known that would be their last show together? Sad, enjoy the clip.....
